In Case You're Still Wondering

Yeah, in case there's anybody out there still checking my blog for new posts....my apologies for being such a slacker. I have been feeling quite rotten the last couple weeks and have just not felt like posting anything since it would all be complaints anyway.

The kid is still where she's been for the past nine months. I know she doesn't fit, she must know she doesn't fit, but young brains obviously can't put 2 and 2 together yet. In the meantime, her nursery is almost finished. Husband has a wee bit of painting left on the dresser and then we can move in the carpet and the rest of the furniture.

We went for a baby shopping trip today. We thought since we're down to 6 days (!!!), we should commence with buying all the wipes and creams and pads, etc that we might need in the next little while, along with a good supply of shampoo and toilet paper. We also bought our very first diaper pail. Oh boy! Talk. About. Excitement. (Seriously though, it's a great colour. If I was feeling ambitious, I'd even post a picture for you. But I'm not.)

In other news, we're house/cat-watching for one of Husband's coworkers. After a 2-3 day absence, her cat, which she assured us would come back in the evening if let out for the day, FINALLY came back late last night. And one of our cats who was lost in our own house since yesterday afternoon was finally discovered this morning. Husband figured if she could've been crossing her legs doing a potty-dance she would've been. She headed straight for the cat box when she was released.

Really though, if we can lose one of our own cats in our own house, what does this bode for our future children???

Still pregnant! Those last few days are SO much fun, aren't they? Oh yes.
Don't worry - the baby won't be able to go anywhere on her own for ages. And cats are much more wiley than babies for a very long time.

Yeah, babies' heads are too big for them to get into small spaces.

Can't wait to hear any news from you!

(What colour is your diaper pail?)

Well the cat wasn't even IN a small space! She pushed open a door to a room we store...er...stuff in and I thought the wind had pushed it open. So I closed it. I still can't believe she didn't scratch or meow or anything when we called her! Dumb cat! And yes, wiley too! Argh!

The diaper pail is a lovely shade of turquoise or teal or blue-green (depending on your preference). It also has a lovely sticker on the side reminding us not to let a baby fall head first into it.

It won't be much longer! Then you'll wish you were pregnant again. I am so excited for you. I wish I had enjoyed those first weeks more but I was super anxious and having panic attacks and had a mild case of postpartum disorder. It was inevitable since it runs in our crappy gened family. But just remember how small the baby is those first weeks b/c they change SO quickly!

Are you doing cloth diapers?

Also, it is harder to lose a baby because babies are louder than cats, so you have that in your favor. 5 days left according to your calendar - tried anything to move it along yet? tempted? I always was.

Beth: Yup, we're doing cloth, but we're going to do disposable for the first couple weeks while we're 'learning' the 'art' of diaper changing. I ordered the rest of the diapers today (*gasp*) and had to keep reminding myself that it's "cheaper in the long run."

Karen: I HAVE been tempted to try to move things along...but I'm waiting on the nursery to be as finished as it can be....

What kind are you using? You'll have to tell me about it. I just ordered some bumgenius diapers. Every single disposable I have tried leaks like crazy and gives her a rash. I'm trying to phase them out.
